Conclusion to the Most Influential Movies of the 90's
Before the 1990’s really got started, they seemed to be over. For me, it was the decade I went from kid to teenager, and where I spent most of my schooling years.
I discovered the movies; going to the cinema almost once a fortnight and renting enough videos to rival Quentin Tarantino.
Inspired by everything that had come before, the years 1990 to 1998 offered us a large variety of films. Genres were revisited or reinvented. Special effects transformed movies, and the movie going experience. Box office records were smashed and smashed again. This all paved the way for perhaps the most defining year in movies ever; 1999.
It was the last Golden Age of cinema, as things took a turn in 2001; the terrorist attacks on September 11th changed the world, and things got dark. DVD’s replaced videos, and movie piracy almost replaced the movie theatre.
But the movies would come back, exploring what was laid down in the 90’s, and either continuing those stories or reinventing them all together.
